How to get your business on Siri and Apple Maps, and why Siri shows Yelp stars

By Ashish Verma, founder and CEO of Zoca. Last updated October 8, 2026.

The short answer. To get your business on Siri, claim your free place card in Apple Business, which Apple says reaches customers "across Apple Maps, Mail, Wallet, Siri, and more" (Apple). So there is a listing to claim. The stars on it are not yours to set: in 149 Apple Maps salon results I read, 102 showed Yelp's rating and 0 showed Google's.

Key facts.

  • iOS 27 reached iPhones on September 14, 2026, and the new Siri, called Siri AI, is "rolling out as a beta in English" on iPhone 15 Pro and later models, per Apple's release.
  • Apple Business has been free since April 14, 2026 in the US and 200+ countries and regions, and it replaced Apple Business Connect, per Apple.
  • In 6 Apple Maps searches for hair and nail salons in Phoenix, Dallas and Philadelphia on October 5, 2026, 102 of 149 results showed a Yelp rating, 40 showed Apple's own thumbs-up percentage, 3 showed Vagaro's, and 0 showed Google's, in my read.
  • The Yelp rating on those 102 results had a median of 4.2 stars, and 40 of the 102 sat under 4.0, in the same October 5, 2026 read.
  • 27% of US consumers used Apple Maps to read local business reviews in the past year, up from 14%, against 71% for Google, in BrightLocal's 2026 survey of 1,002 US adults.

If you carry an iPhone, do one thing before you read on. Ask Siri for a nail salon near you, then for your own salon by name. What comes back is a card you did not write, with stars your clients never gave you on Google. The good news: this is the one assistant listing you can fully claim.

Is there a Siri business listing?

Yes. It is called Apple Business, it costs nothing, and it replaced Apple Business Connect on April 14, 2026 (Apple). There is no separate Siri form. Siri uses the same place card Apple Maps shows.

The claim steps are in Apple Business Connect and Bing Places for salons, so I will not repeat them. You set the name, category, hours, phone, website, photos and buttons. You do not set the stars.

Credit where it is due. Apple hands every business a card and charges nothing to edit it. BUT when I checked the 20 salons that rank first on Google for hair or nails in 10 US cities on September 28, Apple still showed its "Claim This Place" link on 13.

I do not read that as carelessness. A salon runs on client hours, and nobody in the building has a spare Sunday for a second dashboard. She claimed the map the phone rang from. The other card got made without her: all 20 salons were on Apple Maps, claimed or not.

What does the new Siri in iOS 27 read?

2 things: Apple's own place data, which you can claim, and the open web, which you cannot.

iOS 27 reached iPhones on September 14, 2026. The new Siri is "rolling out as a beta in English" on iPhone 15 Pro and later, and it is not on iPhones in the EU or in China yet (Apple). Apple says it runs on models "custom-built in collaboration with Google and its Gemini models" (Apple).

That line gets misread. Google supplies the models. Nothing in Apple's 2 announcements says Google's map or reviews come with them, and in my read 0 Apple Maps results carried a Google rating.

What Siri readsIn the company's wordsCan you claim it?

Keep the size of this door honest. Siri "fields about 1.5 billion queries a day" (AP via PBS, June 2024), timers and texts included. I found no count from Apple of how many people have the new Siri or ask it for a local business. The number I trust is the map underneath: 27% of US consumers used Apple Maps to read local business reviews in the past year, up from 14%, and 71% used Google (BrightLocal, 1,002 US adults). Most of your clients still arrive through Google's map. Apple's is the second one, and it nearly doubled in a year.

Why does Siri show Yelp stars and not my Google reviews?

Because Apple does not carry Google's reviews. On most salon cards the stars are Yelp's, and on the rest they are Apple's own or a booking app's.

On October 5 I ran 6 searches on Apple Maps, "hair salon" and "nail salon" from the center of Phoenix, Dallas and Philadelphia, and read every result: 149 businesses.

Each row gives her a name, a category, open or closed, and 1 rating with its owner printed beside it, as in "4.5 on Yelp."

The stars are lower than the ones you earned. Across the 102, the Yelp rating had a median of 4.2, and 40 sat under 4.0. For nail salons the median was 3.9. On Google, when I counted the top 3 salons in 30 city packs on September 15, 83 of 90 were rated 4.7 or higher. On Apple's list, 20 of the 102 Yelp ratings were. The salons that win Google carry the gap with them: of the 20 that rank first, Apple showed Yelp's rating for 14, and all 14 were lower than on Google, a median of 4.25 against 4.8.

3 things I did not expect.

Apple's own rating sat on more rows than I expected. 40 of the 149 showed a thumbs-up percentage from Apple Maps users: 23 of 50 in Dallas, 5 of 50 in Philadelphia.

A booking app's stars can sit there too. 3 results read "5.0 on Vagaro." One Phoenix hair salon's card carried 5.0 from 1,737 Vagaro reviews and a Schedule button, and still showed "Claim This Place."

And it is a different list. Of the 18 salons in Google's packs for these 3 cities in September, 2 appeared by name in Apple's first 10 and 9 anywhere in its 25. The 2 searches start from different points, so read that as a field note.

How do I get found on Apple Maps and Siri?

Claim the card, fix its category and put a booking button on it. The 8 steps, in order:

So Siri can read you

  1. Ask Siri first. From your parking lot, ask for your service near you, then for your salon by name. Write down the category, the stars and whose they are, the hours and the buttons.
  2. Claim the card. Apple's own figure is that claimed businesses get 30 percent more views (Apple Business, no method given).
  3. Fix the category before anything else. 14 of the 74 nail results were filed as something else: 6 as Beauty Salon, 6 as Waxing Service, 1 as Massage Service, 1 as Spa. On 10 of the 14, Apple printed why it showed them anyway: Reviews mention "Nail Salon." When the label is wrong, your reviewers' words do the category's work. The Google side is in Google Business Profile categories for salons.
  4. Read the page the stars come from. For 102 of 149 that is Yelp. Claim the page, fix its hours and category, and read your last 10 reviews. Whether to pay is covered in is Yelp worth it for salons.
  5. Give the new Siri a page to read. Apple's crawler, Applebot, feeds "Spotlight, Siri, and Safari," and where your site sets no rule for it, it follows the rule you set for Googlebot (Apple Support). Publish a page per service with the price on it.

So she can reach you

  1. The Call button is your phone. Siri does not phone a salon for her the way Google's AI calls a business. She taps Call, and somebody has to pick up.
  2. Look for a Quote button. 6 of the 20 top salons' cards carried one in September. It is Yelp's request form. Yelp told shareholders its ChatGPT version is "building on our success with Apple Maps" (Yelp Q2 2026 letter). It lands in a Yelp inbox. Read that inbox.

So she can book

  1. Put a Schedule button on the card. Of those 20 winners, 15 had a booking button on Google and 3 had one on Apple. Apple's figure is that action links raise clickthrough by 31 percent (Apple Business). Vagaro adds the button for its businesses that meet 4 requirements (Vagaro), and since September 24 Square says beauty businesses can connect their Square booking to Apple (Square). Apple names no salon booking by Siri itself, so the link has to finish on a phone without a call.

The claim is an afternoon. Keeping the category, the hours and the service list the same on the Google profile, the website and the Apple card is the part that slips. The Discovery Agent at Zoca carries that upkeep on the Google profile and the website, and reads your Apple card against both.

Where Zoca fits

This article was about being found and not chosen, on a map you did not know you had. Your card says Waxing Service and 3.4, and she books the salon on the corner. Here is the job when Zoca is hired for it, as one system that runs your day and brings the next client.

The read, before you pay. Your zip code in your numbers: how many people nearby are looking for each thing you do, which salon comes up first for each on Google, and what your Apple card says beside that. The free Google Business Profile Optimizer scores the profile you will copy from.

Two halves. Zoca's half: the Discovery Agent turns your menu into a priced page per service and keeps the Google profile and the website saying one thing. The Booking Agent runs the calendar, online booking and payments free, so a Schedule button has somewhere to land and a Google review is asked at every checkout. The Front Desk Agent answers the call from the card and books it into that calendar. Roughly 52% of inquiries in the 3,709 customer calls we mined between December 2025 and July 2026 arrived after hours. The Engage Agent goes back to the booking somebody quit, and the Loyalty Agent brings each client back on her own clock. Your half: claiming the Apple card and the Yelp page, reviews at a pace we agree on, counted as how many clients you ask, and photos of the work every week. The limits: Apple verifies the owner, so the claim is yours. Nobody can change the Yelp rating Apple shows, us included. The Discovery, Front Desk, Engage and Loyalty agents are paid hires (pricing).

One of 3 answers. Sometimes next week, because the card was never claimed and a wrong category is an afternoon's fix. Sometimes 60 to 90 days, said out loud at the start, because 3 salons near you have a page for every service and you have 1 page. And sometimes not yet, because nobody nearby is looking for the service you want to be known for, and a perfect Apple card does not create people looking. Not yet is an answer we give before your card is out.

The Friday report. One sentence on the week, then a line each: reviews ahead or behind, photos done, what Zoca did, calls answered and booked, each service getting ahead of the salon on the corner, and what to do this week. It lives on your screen, not in an account manager's head.

How we know

The Apple Maps read is mine. On October 5, 2026 I ran 6 searches on Apple Maps on the web, logged out, in the order Apple served them: "hair salon" and "nail salon" from the center of Phoenix, Dallas and Philadelphia. I recorded every business listed, 149 in all, with its category, the rating on the row and whose it was. I opened 2 of the 3 cards that showed Vagaro. No business was contacted.

I did not ask Siri on a phone, and I did not run Siri AI. I read the map Apple says Siri shares. Siri starts from the phone's location, and I cannot say it orders the list the same way or reads a rating aloud. 3 cities, 1 night, downtown only. The Google comparison matches salons by name against our September 15 pack count.

The 20-salon numbers are from my September 28 check. The iOS 27 status is from Apple's 2 newsroom posts of September 14, 2026.

5 things I could not verify and left out: how many people use Siri AI, how it picks or orders local businesses, which websites it reads for a local answer, when a card shows Vagaro's reviews, and the period behind Apple's 30 and 31 percent.

I also read 3 pages that come up for getting a business on Siri. 0 of 3 mention Siri AI or iOS 27, 0 use the name Apple Business, 2 say Yelp's rating sits on the card, and 0 mention a salon.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my business on Siri?

Claim your place card in Apple Business, which is free and replaced Apple Business Connect on April 14, 2026. Siri has no form of its own. Then set the category, hours, photos and a booking button. In 149 Apple Maps salon results I read on October 5, 2026, 102 showed Yelp's rating.

Is a Siri business listing free?

Yes. The listing is Apple Business, free since April 14, 2026 in the US and 200+ countries and regions. Claiming the card and editing its category, hours, photos and buttons costs nothing. Ads on Apple Maps are the paid part, announced for the US and Canada.

Does the new Siri use Google reviews?

No. Apple says Siri AI runs on models built with Google and its Gemini models, and nothing in its announcements says Google's reviews come with them. In 149 Apple Maps salon results read on October 5, 2026, 0 showed a Google rating. 102 showed Yelp's, 40 Apple's own and 3 Vagaro's.

Can Siri book an appointment at my salon?

Not by itself, as far as Apple has announced. Its September 14, 2026 examples of Siri AI acting inside apps are a WhatsApp text and an Audible book. A client books by tapping Schedule on your Apple Maps card. Of the 20 salons ranking first on Google that I checked, 3 had that button.
