How to get your business on Perplexity, Yelp Assistant and Copilot

By Ashish Verma, founder and CEO of Zoca. Last updated October 10, 2026.

The short answer. To get your business on Perplexity, there is nothing to claim. It reads the open web and Yelp, licensed since 2024. Yelp Assistant and Copilot do have a claim path: your Yelp page and a Bing Places listing, which costs nothing. Yelp Assistant produced about 10% of Yelp's quote requests in the second quarter of 2026 (Yelp).

Key facts.

  • Perplexity has shown Yelp's maps, reviews and photos in local answers since March 12, 2024, under Yelp's Fusion licensing program (Maginative), and it gives a website owner 1 instruction, to allow PerplexityBot (Perplexity).
  • On the 2 Perplexity answers to one Phoenix balayage question whose source lists I read on September 24 and October 5, 2026, 12 of 25 sources were a salon's own website and 4 of 25 were yelp.com.
  • Copilot Search pointed to the business's own Bing listing for 21 of the 28 Phoenix beauty businesses it named across 5 prompts I ran logged out on October 5, 2026, and showed yelp.com as a source 0 times.
  • Of those 21 Bing listings, 20 showed a Yelp rating with a median of 4.25 stars on 144 reviews, and 9 carried Bing's claimed badge, when I opened each one on October 5, 2026.
  • 45% of 1,002 US adults used an AI assistant to find a local business in the past year, with ChatGPT at 31% and Google's AI Mode at 23%, and Perplexity is not named in the report (BrightLocal, March 2026).

If you are covering the smaller assistants in one sitting, that is the right way to do it. Perplexity gives you nothing to claim. Yelp Assistant reads your Yelp page. Copilot reads a Bing listing with your name on it. On October 5 I asked Copilot the 5 Phoenix questions I had asked ChatGPT 2 days earlier, then opened every listing it pointed to.

First, the size of these doors. 45% of US adults used an AI assistant to find a local business in the past year. ChatGPT was 31% and Google's AI Mode 23%. Copilot appears with no figure beside it, and Perplexity is not named (BrightLocal). 71% still read reviews on Google (BrightLocal). Most of your new clients still arrive through the map. This is one evening of housekeeping, and nobody should sell it to you as more.

Is there a Perplexity business listing?

No. Perplexity keeps no profile for a business and no form to submit. Its one instruction to a website owner: "we recommend allowing PerplexityBot" (Perplexity).

What it has is a license. Since March 12, 2024, Perplexity has shown Yelp's "maps, reviews, photos, and more" in local answers through Yelp's Fusion program (Maginative). Who else licenses Yelp, and whether the ad is worth paying for, is in is Yelp worth it for salons.

A license is not a promise to show you. I have read the full source list on 2 Perplexity answers to one question, the best hair salon in Phoenix for balayage.

Yelp was 4 of 15 on the first read and 0 of 10 on the second, 11 days later. Across both, the largest group was the salon's own website, 12 of 25. The first source on both answers was the same salon's site, and on October 5 the page Perplexity opened was one that salon wrote to answer this exact question. Perplexity asked me to sign up after 1 answer each time, so 2 lists is what I have.

So Perplexity local SEO for a salon is 3 things you already own: a page per service on your website that a crawler is allowed to open, a Yelp page with the right facts, and your page on a booking marketplace if you use one. The October 5 answer gave 3 names and 3 websites, and no way to call, message or book.

Where a client looks keeps moving: the directory, the review site, the map, now an assistant that reads all of them. The wanting never moved. A salon's marketing is being the one chosen when people nearby go looking, and these 3 choose from records somebody else keeps about you.

Is there a Copilot business listing?

Yes, under another name: your Bing Places for Business listing, which costs nothing. Microsoft's own wording is careful: Bing Places puts you in "Bing search results and Bing Maps," with "deeper integrations with Bing Maps and Copilot" still to come (Bing, October 2025). So on October 5 I ran 5 Phoenix questions through Copilot Search on Bing, logged out.

Of 30 sources, 21 were the business's own Bing listing. For 19 of those 21, the address, phone and hours in the answer were credited to that listing. The other 9 were 5 salon websites and 4 lists. Yelp was shown 0 times.

Then I opened all 21.

The 20 Yelp ratings had a median of 4.25 stars on 144 reviews, and 5 rest on 34 reviews or fewer. Every review link goes to the business's Yelp page with Microsoft tagged as the source. 3 of the 21 were businesses whose Yelp pages I had opened the day before, and Bing's count was within 1 of Yelp's on all 3.

Compare ChatGPT. On October 3 the review count it showed matched Yelp's on 0 of 8 businesses, and Yelp's part was a request link behind 16 of 31 names, as I wrote in how to get ChatGPT to recommend your business. On Copilot the roles flip. The facts come from Bing, and the stars come from Yelp.

Credit where it is due. Microsoft built a listing an owner can edit, Yelp collected the reviews, and a client gets a real phone number because of both. BUT 12 of the 21 carry no claimed badge, which is Bing saying it has no owner on record for the hours Copilot reads out.

2 listings show both sides. One nail salon Copilot named second has a Bing listing with 2.5 stars from 57 Yelp reviews and a Website button that opens Instagram. One central Phoenix salon was Copilot's first pick twice, for balayage and for Botox, with no claimed badge and 13 Yelp reviews. What Copilot quoted was its own website: a balayage page with a price range and a Botox price per unit.

Yelp Assistant for business: what it reads and how it books

Yelp Assistant is the one of the 3 with both a claim path and a booking path, and both run through your Yelp page. Relaunched on April 21, 2026, it works "across every category on Yelp" and answers from "reviews, photos and detailed business information" (Yelp). 28 million devices opened the Yelp app in an average month of 2025 (Yelp Fast Facts).

It reaches you 2 ways. The first is a request. Request a Quote covers more than 450 categories, beauty included, and "Yelp Assistant generated approximately 10%" of those projects in the second quarter (Yelp Q2 2026 letter). Yelp switches the button off on its own when a new message sits 7 days unanswered and nothing was answered in the past 30 (Yelp for Business).

The second is a booking, and today it belongs to one calendar. On Vagaro, a client on an iPhone books from your Yelp page or from the Assistant, and Yelp says no activation is needed (Yelp for Business). Vagaro lists 5 conditions: you are in the US, past Vagaro's trial, with an active Yelp business account, online booking on, and a name, address and phone that match on Yelp (Vagaro Support). Yelp says Android and desktop are coming later this year (Yelp). On any other calendar, the client gets your phone number and your website.

How do I get my business on Perplexity, Yelp Assistant and Copilot in one sitting?

Fix 4 records in this order: your Google Business Profile, your Bing listing, your Yelp page, and a page per service on your website. An assistant asks 3 things: can I read you, do you answer, can I book you.

Can they read you?

  1. Google Business Profile first. Hours, category, services with prices. Bing imports from it (Bing).
  2. Bing. Search your salon's name and city on Bing and click "Manage business," which was on 21 of 21 listings. Claim it, import from Google, then check hours, phone, Website button and category by hand. 3 of the 21 were filed under "Beauty & spa." The walk-through is in Bing Places for salons.
  3. Yelp. Claim the page and match its name, address, phone and hours to Google. Those are the stars Bing shows. Do not ask for reviews there: "Businesses should never ask customers to write reviews" (Yelp).
  4. Your website. One page per service, with the price, and one question for whoever built the site: are PerplexityBot and Bingbot allowed in?

Do you answer?

  1. The Yelp request button. Switch it on from a computer and answer the same day. The steps are in the ChatGPT piece linked above.
  2. The phone number on Bing. Copilot printed it for 19 businesses. Call it once and see who picks up.

Can they book you?

  1. On Vagaro, check that "List Business on Yelp" is on and the 5 conditions hold.
  2. On anything else, add your booking link to the Bing listing. 6 of the 21 had an Appointments button: 3 went to the salon's own site, 2 to a booking page, and 1 to a Yelp appointment request.

Then ask each of the 3 for your salon by name and check the hours.

What slips is the Tuesday you change your Sunday hours and 3 of the 4 records never hear about it. Holding them together is the first job the Discovery Agent at Zoca takes on when it is hired.

Where Zoca fits

This article was about the second way the front door breaks. People find you and choose the salon on the corner, because a record you never opened shows old hours, a Website button that opens Instagram, or stars that rest on 13 reviews. Here is the job when Zoca is hired: one system that runs your day and brings the next client.

The read, before you pay. Your zip code in your numbers: how many people nearby are looking for each thing you do, which salon comes up first for each, and where your Google, Bing and Yelp records disagree with your website. The free Google Business Profile Optimizer scores the profile Bing copies. The free website audit checks the page Perplexity opened most.

Two halves. Zoca's half starts with the day you already run. The Booking Agent runs your calendar, online booking and payments free, and a review is asked at every checkout. The Front Desk Agent answers every call and books it into that calendar. The Engage Agent goes back to the booking somebody quit, and the Loyalty Agent brings each client back on her own clock. Because the day runs here, your menu becomes the Discovery Agent's material: a priced page per service, and a Google profile, Bing listing and Yelp facts that match the calendar. Your half: claiming Bing and Yelp yourself, because those companies verify the owner and not us, weekly photos of the work, and how many clients you ask for a Google review. The limits: Perplexity keeps no listing, so nobody can list you there, us included. The checkout ask goes to Google, never Yelp. The Book button on Yelp is Vagaro's. Every agent except the Booking Agent is a paid hire (pricing).

One of 3 answers. Sometimes next week, because a listing nobody claimed was showing the wrong hours. Sometimes 60 to 90 days, said out loud at the start, because 3 salons on your street have a page for every service and you have one. And sometimes not yet, because nobody nearby is looking for the service you want to be known for. We say not yet before your card is out.

The Friday report. One sentence, then a line each: reviews ahead or behind, what Zoca did, calls answered and booked, bookings recovered, clients brought back, whether the 4 records still agree, and what to do this week. It lives on your screen, not in an account manager's head.

How we know

The Copilot read is mine: 5 prompts naming Phoenix, October 5, 2026, Copilot Search on Bing, logged out, one prompt per fresh page. The Copilot app asked for a sign-in, so this is the search version. I recorded every business and source link (one salon came up on 2 prompts, so 28 names are 27 businesses), then loaded the 21 Bing listings and read the rating, review link, category, claimed badge and buttons. The browser sat outside the US, so each address forced the US market. A missing badge means Bing shows none, not that no owner ever logged in.

The Perplexity reads are 1 answer on September 24 and 1 on October 5, logged out. No business was contacted and no request was sent. I did not run Yelp Assistant, which lives in Yelp's app, so every fact about it is from Yelp's or Vagaro's own pages. 5 prompts, 1 city, 1 day. Read it as a field note.

I could not verify how Perplexity decides when to show Yelp's licensed cards, and left it out. Of the 4 pages I read that rank for this search, 1 says plainly that Perplexity has no listing, and 0 mention the 2024 Yelp license, Bing Places or PerplexityBot.

Frequently asked questions

Does Perplexity use Yelp reviews?

Yes. Perplexity has licensed Yelp's maps, reviews and photos for local answers since March 12, 2024. A license is not a guarantee. On 2 answers to one Phoenix balayage question in September and October 2026, yelp.com was 4 of 25 sources and a salon's own website was 12.

How do I get a Copilot business listing?

Claim your Bing Places for Business listing, which costs nothing and imports from your Google Business Profile. In 5 Phoenix prompts on October 5, 2026, Copilot Search pointed to the business's own Bing listing for 21 of 28 names and printed its address, phone and hours for 19.

What is Yelp Assistant for business?

It is Yelp's AI assistant, relaunched April 21, 2026, answering from your Yelp page. It sends requests through Request a Quote, about 10% of those projects in the second quarter of 2026, and books Vagaro businesses on iPhone. Your part is a claimed Yelp page and an answered inbox.

Is Bing Places for Business worth it for a salon?

Yes, because it costs nothing and Copilot reads it. Of 21 Bing listings Copilot pointed to in Phoenix on October 5, 2026, 12 carried no claimed badge, 20 showed a Yelp rating, and 1 had a Website button that opened Instagram. Claim it and check the hours.
