How to get your business on Meta Muse: what it reads and what you can do

By Ashish Verma, founder and CEO of Zoca. Last updated October 5, 2026.

The short answer. There is no listing to claim. To get your business on Meta Muse, be readable and reachable. Muse, which passed 5 million downloads in 22 days (Sensor Tower via 9to5Mac), reads the public web through its own browser and phones businesses for hours and bookings. Publish prices, keep a working booking link, answer the phone.

Key facts.

  • Meta launched Muse on September 8, 2026, free for most use, on iOS, Android, muse.ai and WhatsApp in the US, per Meta's launch post.
  • Muse passed 5 million downloads within 22 days of launch, a mark ChatGPT took 56 days to reach, by Sensor Tower's estimate reported by 9to5Mac on September 30, 2026.
  • Meta's help page says Muse phones "businesses whose phone numbers are publicly available" to ask opening hours or make a booking, and links 1 form for a business that wants to opt out (Meta Help Centre).
  • Of the 61 salons Google surfaces for balayage in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Arcadia, 12 show both a price and a booking link a client can finish online, in the site read we ran on October 1, 2026 and I finished by hand on October 4.
  • Across the 6 pages Meta has published about Muse that I read on October 4, 2026, 0 name a source for its place data and 0 offer a business a profile to claim.

I planned to ask Muse for a Phoenix salon 5 times and write down every name. I could not. Muse sits behind a Meta login, and I do not open accounts to run a test. So there are no Muse answers here. There is what Meta has put in writing, the reporting I could check at the source, and a count of 61 Phoenix salons that shows what Muse runs into when a client sends it looking.

Is there a Muse AI business listing?

No. Meta gives a business no profile to claim in Muse, no form to submit and no directory to join. On October 4 I read the 6 pages Meta has published about Muse. 0 of the 6 offer a business a listing. 0 name a source for Muse's place data.

What Meta does say is how Muse looks. From its design page: Muse "has access to a full web browser, so it can search, navigate sites, fill out forms, and complete transactions, like booking and purchasing" (Meta, How We Designed Muse). From its help page: "Muse might also access information that is publicly available on the Internet" (Meta Help Centre). Muse finds a salon the way a careful stranger does: it opens a browser and reads what is there.

Is Muse for Small Business a Muse listing?

No. Muse for Small Business, launched on September 29, 2026 (TechCrunch), is Muse working for the owner. It does not show you to the client.

Meta's page says it "connects your Facebook, Instagram and Meta ads in one step" and names 15 other tools, from QuickBooks and Shopify to Canva and Stripe (Meta, Muse for Small Business). None of the 15 is a salon booking app. It drafts replies, plans content and builds ads, and TechCrunch reports it is "available for free with usage limits."

Credit where it is due. An owner who is on her feet all day gets real help with the back office, and I would try it. BUT like most AI agents for small business, it sits on your side of the counter. Nothing on Meta's page says a connected business is shown when somebody else asks their Muse for a balayage.

Does Muse recommend local businesses?

Yes. Meta has not said what it reads to do it. In one listings company's words, "Meta has not published which data sources Muse queries when it recommends places, so nobody outside Meta can say exactly what feeds it today" (PinMeTo).

Daniel Howley at Yahoo Finance asked Muse for nearby restaurants that serve gluten-free beer. It gave him "two correct options" and "one spot that has been closed for years," then said it "initially relied on stale data." It also handed him a phone number and admitted it had "made up" the number (Yahoo Finance, September 23, 2026).

5 million downloads in 22 days is a product people wanted. BUT an assistant working from a stale record sends the client to a closed door, and the business on that record never hears about it. Nobody outside Meta knows which record Muse reads, so the safe move is to make every public record of your salon say the same true thing.

Why did Meta Muse call my salon?

Because a client asked it to, and your number is public. Meta's help page: "We're also experimenting with the ability for Muse to make phone calls on your behalf to businesses whose phone numbers are publicly available. For example, users may use AI phone calls to ask about your business' opening hours, or to make a booking" (Meta Help Centre).

Meta employees began testing the calls in August, for "errands like booking haircuts, checking whether a store has an item in stock or getting quotes from different contractors" (Reuters via KSL, September 22, 2026). By September 17 Meta had widened the beta for "outbound calls to US businesses" (TechCrunch). On October 3 the feature "remains in limited testing" (Fox News).

One caution. Reuters found Meta had also tested a "human concierge," contractors quietly placing some of the calls. A Meta vice president called it "a miss" and said the company had "rolled back this feature." Meta has not published how a Muse call introduces itself.

You can opt out. The same help page links 1 form for a business that does not want the calls. I would leave it alone. The caller is carrying a request from someone who wanted a haircut enough to send for a price.

What Muse runs into: 61 Phoenix salons

Why does an assistant with a browser need the phone at all? I counted.

On October 1 we pulled every salon Google surfaces for balayage in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Arcadia, 61 in all, and scanned each website for a price and a booking link. On October 4 I opened by hand the 26 where the scan found no link.

What a client's assistant needsSalons, of 61
A phone number on the Google listing57
A booking link a client can finish online42
A balayage price on the website16
Both the price and the booking link12
A call or a message for the price, the booking, or both49

12 of 61. Those are the salons a machine can price and book without bothering anyone. For the other 49 it has to phone, text or fill out a form, and 4 of the 49 list no phone on Google.

Look closer at the 19 without a booking link. 13 book by phone, text or request form. On one, the "Book Now" button dials the salon. On another it goes nowhere. 5 have no working website. And 1 refused to load, even in a real browser.

For 30 years, choosing a salon was the client's work: open tab after tab, hunt for a price, call around, give up. Judgment applied by a person, over and over, is the thing that stopped being expensive, and it got cheap on the client's side first. An assistant will read all 61 sites and make the 49 calls without getting tired. Then it picks from the ones that answered.

What to do this week: readable, answering, bookable

An assistant asks 3 things of a business: can I read you, do you answer, can I book you. None of the 5 fixes below is special to Muse. Each is already owed to the client who finds you on Google.

Can it read you?

  1. A price beside each service. 16 of the 61 salons had one for balayage. A starting price counts. The longer case is in should salons list prices online.
  2. One true record everywhere. Your Google Business Profile, Facebook Page, Instagram bio and website are public pages, and public pages are what Meta says Muse reads. Same name, address, hours, phone and booking link on all 4.
  3. A site a browser can open. 5 of the 61 had no working site and 1 turned a browser away.

Do you answer?

  1. The phone. 57 of the 61 list a number. Nobody has measured Muse's calls yet. The nearest measurement is Google's: 26% of its AI price calls went unanswered, and 49% of the answered ones got no price, in Invoca's study of July to November 2025 across industries that include hair salons. When an advisor of ours had another assistant shortlist 12 med spas and email them, 4 answered with a quote and 6 never replied. Say the price or the starting price, the next open slot and the booking link, the same script as when Google's AI calls. Can it book you?
  2. A booking link that finishes without a call. 42 of the 61 had one. Muse's browser can "fill out forms, and complete transactions, like booking," so a link that works on a phone is a booking Muse can finish alone. This is the job the Booking Agent at Zoca does when it is hired: online booking and payments, free, on a link that ends in a confirmed slot.

Keep the size of this door honest. 45% of 1,002 US adults used an AI assistant to find a local business in the past year, up from 6%, and 97% of them check real reviews at least sometimes (BrightLocal, March 2026). Muse is one more way in, beside the map, the search box and Instagram, and the other 10 assistants each read something different.

Where Zoca fits

This article touched all 3 ways the front door breaks, seen through a machine's eyes. It cannot read you. It reads you and finds no price. Or it phones, and the call rings out. Here is the job when Zoca is hired for it, as one system that runs the day and brings the next client.

The read, before you pay. Your zip code in your numbers: how many people nearby are looking for each thing you do, which salon comes up first for each, and whether a price and a working booking link sit beside each one. The free website audit checks the page an assistant's browser opens, and the free Google Business Profile Optimizer scores the profile.

Two halves. Zoca's half: the Discovery Agent keeps a page per service with its price, and keeps the website and the Google profile saying the same thing. The Front Desk Agent answers the call and the text, a client's or an assistant's, with the price and the slot. Roughly 52% of inquiries in the 3,709 customer calls we mined between December 2025 and July 2026 arrived after hours. The Booking Agent runs online booking and payments free, and because the calendar and the finding live in one place, a client can be traced from the search to the chair. Your half: reviews at a pace we agree on, counted as how many clients you ask, photos of the work every week, and a price written down for every service. The limits: Muse keeps no listing, so nobody can list you there, us included. Nobody outside Meta knows what Muse reads for places, and that includes us. Your Facebook Page, your Instagram and the Muse opt-out form stay in your hands. The Discovery and Front Desk agents are paid hires (pricing).

One of 3 answers. Sometimes next week, because your price and your booking link were never written where a browser could find them. Sometimes 60 to 90 days, said out loud at the start, because 3 salons on your street have a page for every service and you have one page for all of them. And sometimes not yet, because nobody nearby is looking for the service you want to be known for. Not yet is an answer we give before your card is out.

The Friday report. One sentence on the week, then a line each: reviews ahead or behind, photos done, what Zoca did, each service getting ahead of the salon on the corner, calls answered and what they asked, and what to do this week. It lives on your screen, not in an account manager's head.

How we know

Muse itself went untested. muse.ai asks for a Meta login before the first prompt, and I did not create an account. Every Muse fact here is from Meta's own pages or from reporting, read on October 4, 2026 and linked where it appears. The 6 Meta pages: launch post, home page, design page, safety page, Small Business page, and the help page for people who do not use Muse.

The 61 salons come from 7 balayage searches on Google Places on October 1, 2026, each website scanned that day. A price means a dollar figure sitting near the word balayage, so read 16 as approximate. A booking link means a booking company's link or script on the site, found on 35. On October 4 I read the other 26 by hand: 7 had a booking link the scan missed, 13 book by phone, text or request form, 5 had no working site, and 1 refused to load. I did not finish a booking on any of them, so 42 counts links. No salon was called, emailed or booked. One service, one area, one week.

I also read 5 pages that come up when you search for Muse and business. 0 of 5 say whether a business can claim a listing, 0 mention Meta's opt-out form, and 1 mentions a salon, in passing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my salon on Meta Muse?

You cannot register, because Meta keeps no business listing for Muse. Muse reads the public web through its own browser and phones businesses that have a public number. Write a price beside each service, keep a booking link that finishes online, and answer the phone. In our Phoenix read, 12 of 61 salons had both.

Should I opt out of Muse's AI phone calls?

You can. Meta's help page links 1 form for a business that does not want Muse's calls. I would not file it. The caller carries a client's request, and 49 of the 61 Phoenix salons I read cannot be priced and booked without a call or a message.

Does Muse for Small Business put my salon in front of Muse users?

No. Muse for Small Business, launched September 29, 2026, connects your Facebook, Instagram, Meta ads and 15 named tools so that Muse can work for you. Meta's page says nothing about a connected business being shown to anyone else's Muse. It helps you run the business and does not list it anywhere.

Where does Muse get its information about local businesses?

Meta has not said. Its pages say Muse uses a full web browser and information that is publicly available on the Internet, and 0 of the 6 Meta pages I read name a source for place data. Keep every public record of your salon saying the same thing.
